Go LOBOS!!

We went to watch the Lobos play TCU tonight with David's aunt, uncle, and his cousin Sean and his wife. We have gone to this game every year since Landon was born. He was only 12 days old when we took him to his first game.
It was so fun to watch Landon watch the game. I spent more time looking at him check everything out rather than watching the game.
Now those are some serious game faces.

Landon kept yelling, "LOBOS". He was copying his dad and Great Uncle Art.

After the game we went to Cooper's BBQ...yummy!!

Notice my white vest with fuzzy stuff on the collar....well, when I went to get Landon out of his bed after his nap, he pointed at me and said, "HO! HO!". I was not aiming to look like Santa when I put this on, I was trying to support the Lobos by wearing red! This little guy cracks me up!
Landon was a fiesty little guy by the time dinner was over since it was past his bedtime.

Next year we are going to have to get a Lobo shirt for Landon to wear to the game. He was the only one of us not wearing red tonight. Go Lobos!!

Stock Show

We took Landon to the Fort Worth stock show this morning, and it made me feel like a true Texan. Almost so much that I think I need a pair of cowboy boots, seriously!! As soon as we got home I looked for some on the internet!! Anyway, we had a great time and are already looking forward to next year.
Landon checking out the pig.
Landon really checking out the pig!

I wonder what he is thinking about the pig at this point. He was so intrigued.
Landon taking a look at some baby ducks.
Landon really liked the baby goats at first, and he had no problem holding them and petting them. But, as soon as I pulled out the camera he started crying...not too sure why?!? My favorite part of the picture is the how the baby goat is looking at Landon. It is as if he is saying, "Hey little friend, it's okay". Love it!!

We ventured past the horses and Landon kept saying, "moo". Guess we need to work on that on! Ha!!

Future Longhorn

David and I get to wear university shirts with jeans on days that report cards go home with our students. So, since we were wearing Longhorn gear Landon had to as well! You can tell by David's eyes that he is NOT a morning person! Ha!
I'm not kidding when I say that Landon L.O.V.E.S to clean. He was sweeping early in the morning before we headed out the door.
Although his cleaning obsession has tapered off a bit, he is still a cleaning machine!!
David took Landon for a run the other day. Landon really enjoys going on runs with us. He chats the entire ride about different things that he sees.

When David and Landon came home from their run, Landon did not want to get out of the stroller. He kept telling David, "run, run", so David got a little extra running in that afternoon! I enjoy taking Landon with me, but it is hard work pushing the stroller and trying to keep a steady pace. And it is a double workout when you are pushing against the wind--I thought my legs were going to explode the other day after a windy run with the stroller.

Messy Kitchen

Here is what my kitchen looked like tonight...
and here is the guilty party posing for his mugshot...Cakes pans, rug, trucks, magnetic letters, empty milk carton, basket of random toys, and broom! I don't think he had enough to play with!

Our Day Off

We had the day off yesterday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. I just love my teacher schedule!! David went to "W" to help his grandma do a few things, and Landon and I stayed at the house and were busy the whole day. We went for a jog, washed the car, played outside, and played inside, too! It was a great day with my handsome little guy.
I noticed him moving the chairs around in the kitchen, he was really focused, and he was on a mission. So, I sat back and watched to see what he was doing. Once he got three chairs lined up, he sat in the front one, moved his arm up and down, and said "choo, choo."
He is fascinated by trains (airplanes too). To get out of our neighborhood you have to go over train tracks, and Landon starts saying, "choo, choo" as we approach them. Since he sits in the backseat, I have no idea how he knows that we are even getting close to the train tracks. My little train conductor had to try out every seat!

Landon got this plasma car for Christmas. He hasn't quite figured it out yet, but once he does I know he'll have lots of fun with it.

Landon loves to help feed Coco, and I do have to say that he is pretty good at it! He does get upset when some of the food doesn't land in Coco's bowl.
"Hi, mom!"
It's hard to believe he is going to be two years old in a few weeks. I didn't cry on his first birthday, but for some reason I feel a little emotional about his one.

10K

I signed up for The Cowtown, and I will be running my very first 10K (6.2 miles). I have always wanted to run in a marathon, and I figured since I am turning 30 this year it would be a perfect time. The race is the day after my 30th birthday, so no crazy birthday celebration for me! Ha! I have been training for a couple of weeks, and I have had a few things try to deter me from my goal...I will NOT cave. Let me say that again, I WILL NOT CAVE!!
David came home last week and informed me that someone had been attacked by a group of boys on the running trails and took their ipod. I primarily run on the running trails here in our neighborhood, and I always run with my ipod (I have even gone on runs in the dark). Hearing this story scared me and got me off of my training schedule. I did not run for 5 days for fear that it would happen to me too. I don't want to give up running the race, and I definitely don't want these boys to get in the way of my goal.
So, yesterday I was ready to go for a run. I made David go with me, just in case. David got on his bike, and I put Landon in the jogging strolling and we went out for a run. David and Landon stopped to play at a park, and I jogged around the perimeter so I was pretty close to them. It was a beautiful day and there were lots of people out walking. As I was running, I began to pass a couple that were walking with their dog. They were on the left side of the trail, so I jogged past them on the right side. As I jogged past them, their dog, which was a pit bull, lunged at me. I felt a pain on my elbow, and my elbow was wet--I just knew it was blood. I thought I had been bit by this dog. At this point I am thinking, "I am NEVER running again!" Fortunately, I checked my elbow and all was okay. The owner made sure I was okay, too. David saw the incident happen, and noticed that the owner had to restrain the dog anytime someone walked by. I'm going to keep my opinions about this dog to myself.
I will run with great caution from here on out! There are 40 more days until race day, and I hope they are drama free running days, too! I told David that I needed to get a can of pepper spray to carry on my runs. I will not let these things get in the way of my goal...I WILL NOT CAVE!!

My Little Artist

I have been so bad about blogging lately. Honestly, I just haven't felt like doing it. I should be better about doing it because I do love documenting Landon's life. Speaking of which, I really need to get the last year of my blog turned into a book for the little guy. Anyways, we have just been doing the normal everyday stuff. Landon is really into "art" projects lately. We have been painting, coloring, using play-doh, and making pictures with shaving cream. This water painting was a soggy mess, but he had fun!

Landon made an airplane with blue finger paint, at least that is what he kept telling me it was.

The weather is going to be nice this week, and I am looking forward to spending some time outside. Maybe Landon won't mind giving up his art projects for a few days if we are playing outside instead. He is a total outside boy. January is not even over yet, and I already have SPRING FEVER...that is not good!!

Landon's first movie...

We took Landon to see his first movie at the theater this weekend. We saw The Princess and the Frog. I was expecting to purchase tickets and stay maybe 30 minutes or so, but nope...Landon lasted the whole movie. In fact, when it was over he said, "more". I'm glad it was a hit with the little guy, however, David thought it was a "girl movie".

I won't tell you about the fit that Landon threw as we were leaving the movie. It had to do with a little almost 2 year old not wanting to put a coat on before going out in 30 degree temps!! Other than the coat drama we had a great time, and we look forward to many more movie outings with the little man!!

Snack and Coloring

Almost everyday when we get home Landon goes straight to the pantry and says, "nak". Which means that he wants to eat fruit snacks. When he sees me reaching for them he immediately goes and sits on the floor and waits patiently for me to hand them over. Today as he was eating his fruit snacks he wanted to share them with Elmo. I'm so glad that he has those slippers; he loves them and he is definitely going to need them for this cold weather the next few days. This little guy loves to color, paint, and play with playdough. He gets so into his "projects" and his concentration is so deep. We colored together for a good 30 minutes this afternoon. I love these special times together, because I know that he won't want to color with me when he gets older.
I love these sweet little hands.
I think that he did a pretty good job coloring those airplanes!! He is really into airplanes lately. He always looks for them when we are driving, and if he hears one fly over the house he runs to the back door to look. I think I may just have to get him an airplane cake to celebrate his 2nd birthday coming up!

He really wanted to play with playdough tonight, but we did not have any here at the house. So we had to settle for coloring instead.

Us lately...

It's been almost a week since my last post. Not a lot has been going on since the new year started. We celebrated New Year's by spending it with our neighbors. Danny and Beth are always great hosts and invited everyone over to celebrate!! I love that we have great neighbors, because the kids can run around and play together, and we only have to drive a few houses down the street.

All the ladies on New Year's. The guys were probably outside shooting off illegal fireworks!!

Ginger and I.

Some of the kiddos dancing. I'm sure Landon and Luke were attempting to climb the stairs (which they are not allowed to do), which is why they are not in the picture. Luke is 8 months younger than Landon and I can't wait for them to start really playing with each other. For now all they do is mostly look at each other, and every now and then one will take a toy away from the other. When the ball dropped, Beth gave all the kids pots and wooden spoons to make lots of noise...fun stuff!! Landon and Luke were the only kids that did not stay awake until midnight! I look forward to future New Year's when we can ring in the New Year with our sweet little boy!! I know that he is going to make this next year in our lives even more fun than the last!

School started back on Monday. It's always hard to go back after a long break. I know it's harder on me than it is on Landon. In fact, when I dropped him off at his babysitters yesterday, he gave me a hug and gave me a very loud, "BYEEEE", and ran off to play. I'm so glad that he loves his babysitter.

I have attempted to take pictures of Landon during the past few days, but he always runs from the camera. So, unfortunately I don't have many pictures worth putting on here unless you want to see the back of his head! Ha!

Here he is running away from me again because he knows I have the camera. He is closing the door so that I can't come in! The little stinker, but I sure do love him more than he will ever know.

I'll try to get some good pictures of him during the next few days. It is supposed to get really cold this weekend (Arctic Blast cold), so I'm sure we'll be cooped up in the house.
