Snow, snow, and more snow!!

I can't believe all the snow that we have gotten in the past week!! Landon still is not a huge fan of the snow, but hopefully he'll come around.
This picture of David and Landon was taken on Christmas Eve when we took Landon out to play in the snow...remember, he did NOT like it one bit!!
Seeing snow on his boots threw him over the edge, he didn't like the snow on his boots at all!!This was the snow that we got yesterday. I took the picture from inside the house, which is why it is not very good.I love this little confused face. He is probably wondering why it is snowing again. When he woke up from his nap and saw that it was snowing on his cars outside he was very concerned. He was very worried about Coco and Bubba (my parents dog)...I guess he didn't want them to get snowed on either.
"Cheese!"

I'm glad that when it is snowing I get to be cooped up in the house with this cute little face!!

We are going to spend the next couple of days taking Christmas decorations down. It is much more fun to put decorations up than it is to take them down.

Merry Christmas

David's parents came and spent Christmas with us. I think it was the first white Christmas I have ever seen! We got several inches of snow and we had several snow banks in our yard. We thought it would be fun to bundle Landon up and let him play in the snow. Unfortunately, he totally despised the snow. He cried the entire 10 minutes we had him out there (I have pics, but I'll save him the embarrassment!). I think it took more time to bundle him up than the time we stayed outside. With ALL the snow and ice we were cooped up in the house for a few days, so what else is there to do besides eat and lounge around?!? That is exactly what we did and it was worth it!!

Landon with daddy and Grandpa. This little guy sure makes the Christmas holiday so enjoyable. Landon painted David's parents a masterpiece too!! Getting presents for your parents seems a little easier once you have kids. Ha!

Landon got a cleaning set complete with a broom, hand held vacuum, and trash can--he LOVES it!! He is of course our cleaning machine!!

Grandma got Landon an Irish tale from Ireland.
Santa brought Landon some Elmo slippers. He stomps around the house in them and sometimes will bend down and try to hug them. He loves his Elmo slippers.

This precious little ornament arrived in the mail today from Logan's nurse, Lisa. Lisa was Logan's wonderful nurse when he was in the NICU in Dallas. She is so caring, thoughtful, and kind. We have kept in contact with her through the years, and we are blessed to have gained her friendship. Thank you, Lisa.

The past week has been sad, happy, scary, exciting, and busy. I am happy to report that dad is doing very well after his brain surgery. He is home and getting lots of rest. While we were there for dad's surgery we went ahead and quickly celebrated Christmas together.
Landon created this priceless masterpiece for his grandparents. They were so excited to have their very own art work from him.

Landon loves his Grandpa, and he loves that jar of M&M's that sits next to his recliner too! :)
Landon got very spoiled by his grandparents. He is one very lucky little boy to be surrounded by so much love.
My dear sweet Grandmother was in town as well, she wanted to be there for dad's surgery.

Christmas in NB may not have been celebrated exactly how we envisioned, but that is okay because Dad is home and doing well. A successful surgery is the best Christmas present that we could have received. Thank you, Jesus!

Jesus is the reason for the season!

Happy Birthday, Logan

Happy 3rd Birthday in Heaven, Logan! In some ways it feels like that day was ages ago that our precious boy went to be with Jesus, but at the same time in some ways it feels like it was just yesterday. It feels like ages ago that I got to hold my sweet baby boy, but at the same the pain of saying goodbye is so fresh in my mind.

Our lives completely changed after losing Logan. I don't take one second of life for granted. Every second that I have with Landon I cherish and hold on to.

One thing that I haven't quite figured out how to deal with is when people ask how many children I have or if Landon is my only child. I feel guilty saying that Landon is my only child, but at the same time I don't want to go into anything deeper.

As the years have passed by the pain of losing Logan has not gone away, it is just more bearable. Not a day goes by that he does not enter our minds. He is a part of our family and always will be. A huge part of our heart is already in Heaven, and we can't wait to get there to see him again.

Although Logan's life here on earth was short, we know that he served a purpose and changed many lives. His life was not incomplete.
We find comfort in knowing that Logan is safer in Heaven than he would be in this world we live in. There are no tears in Heaven.

Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. (Luke 18:16)

Decorating Cookies...

I made some sugar cookies to decorate for Christmas. Landon loves this sort of thing and totally got into decorating his Christmas tree, it engaged him for almost 30 minutes!!

"ummmy"
It began so nice and tidy and ended like this!!

We may not be the best cookie decorators, but we sure do have some good memories!

So I got a glimpse of what the teenage years might be like! Landon was "talking" on the phone and I kept asking him who he was talking to, and he just continued on with his little conversation and completely ignored me!! And he kept trying to move away from me as if he was saying, "Mom, stop being so nosey!!"

"Okay Mom, seriously, I'm trying to have a conversation here!"
Why do they have to grow up so fast?!? Although time goes by way too fast, I'm enjoying every minute of watching this little boy grow up!

Not a whole lot has been going on around here lately, just the usual normal everyday stuff. Landon did start going to a new sitter last week, and we all love the new change! I liked his old school, but I felt that it was just too "big"--it was like "real" school, and I really wasn't ready for that yet. Landon is really enjoying being back in an in-home setting too, he has some very sweet new little friends. Here is a picture of my little Redskin fan getting ready to head out the door this morning.

The holidays have been so fun with him--he LOVES driving around looking at Christmas lights, and the whole time he says, "oooooh, oooooh". Oh, and for some reason whenever he sees a wreath he says, "hat" and pats his head?!!? Haven't figured that one out yet, but it is cute nonetheless.

On a whole other note...David got me an ipod for Christmas! We have a very hard time waiting until Christmas in this house! Ha! I love my new ipod, however, I feel completely un-tech savvy as I learn how to use it. Aunt Char, I may need some ipod-101 when we come down next week!!

I hope that you all have a great rest of the week!!

Weekend Review

We had a very nice weekend around here. We started our Saturday by making a visit to Santa Claus. Mr. Claus just happened to be at David's school, and Landon wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. As soon as Landon saw him, I felt his hand squeezing my arm and he held onto me with every muscle he had. So, needless to say, we did not get one picture. Hopefully, we'll get a second chance to see Santa and get a picture!! Saturday night David went to watch a football game, and Landon and I had dinner with a neighbor. We are very lucky to have some great neighbors!!

Today there were some boys playing ball in our cul-de-sac, and Landon watched them through the window for the longest time. I thought it was just too sweet.

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we definitely have so much to be thankful for. We had Thanksgiving lunch in "W" at David's grandmas house. The weather was gorgeous, so we spent some time outside after stuffing ourselves full of turkey.

Landon had to tell cousin Abby about the "aerpanes"!!

We went to my aunt's house after we left David's grandmas house. She had some new little piglets, and Landon got to get in their pen with them. This was an extremely new experience for him. He enjoyed being in the pen with the piglets, but did not want to touch them.

We did lots of traveling on Thanksgiving day...after we left my aunt's house we headed down south to see my parents. We always celebrate Christmas the first Saturday after Thanksgiving with my dad's family. This year my parents were in charge of hosting the Christmas party.Landon loves his grandma...must be all the attention he gets from her! He is definitely loved!!
Landon with his cousin Brandon. Brandon is in the Army and stationed in SA, so we invited him over to celebrate with us. It was good to see him, and I know he enjoyed eating some good food!!
Here is the whole Honkomp bunch.
Landon's great-granddad.
We always do the white elephant gift exchange...which is always fun because you never know what you will end up with. Landon got to help dad open his present.
Dad enjoying some yummy pecan pie.

The week long break from work was wonderful and just what we needed! Now just 2 1/2 more weeks until we get another break...sometimes being a teacher really isn't so bad. Ha!
