Weekend Recap

On Saturday morning we woke up to go 'March For Babies' and it was an absolutely beautiful morning for a 3.5 mile walk. It was sunny and there were very light winds, which was a very welcome change since we have had high winds the past few weeks.

A cute boy ready to walk.

This was the fifth year that we have participated in this walk and there were more people there than we have ever seen! There were thousands of people out supporting a great cause.

We ran into one of David's friends that was a groomsmen in our wedding, so we had to snap a picture of his daughter, Sophia, with Landon.

Logan's picture in the Garden of Hope.

Sweet boy.

We did it!

I thought these next few pictures of Landon eating his hot dog were cute...

It was so wonderful to see so many families out supporting such a wonderful cause, and we had a great time as usual! Later that afternoon, David took Landon to see the movie Rio while I went to a baby shower.

Sunday morning we went to church and we let Landon go the nursery for the first time ever! We typically go to mass on Saturday or Sunday evenings and there is not a nursery available at those masses so he usually just goes with us. Knowing that mass would be long this morning for Palm Sunday we decided to try the nursery out. When we brought him into the nursery he threw the biggest fit because he didn't want us to leave. It breaks my heart when he does that, but I know it's good for him to be around other kids and new situations. I just knew we would get a phone call during church to come get him, but we didn't!! His teacher said that he did so well once we left. :)

We snapped a few pics before church.

When I tried to take a picture with him he kept making the silliest faces!

Silly boy!

Baylor NICU

Landon had his 3rd birthday party at the end of January and rather than people giving him presents we asked people to bring an item to be donated to the NICU at Baylor Dallas. This is the hospital that Logan spent a few days at after being transferred from Baylor Grapevine. While Logan was there, one of our favorite nurses was a lady named Lisa. She was so sweet and kind to our family. She stayed hours after her shift to be with us after Logan passed away and we have stayed in contact with her over the last 4 years. We wanted to donate these items in memory of Logan, so we took the day off from work to deliver them today.

The NICU always needs blankets and crib mobiles for the babies. We also wanted them to have a camera so that the families and nurses can use it for the little babies, because when you're in that situation a camera is often the last thing you think of to pack. When Logan was in the NICU, the nurses took pictures of him for us and we are so thankful for those precious memories. The camera they had when Logan was there wasn't in the best condition, so we thought they would benefit from an extra camera. Lisa told us today that their cameras are used a lot, so I'm glad that we were able to provide them with another one.

This cute little boy was excited to go this morning too! We also had a quick doctors appointment in Dallas today followed by a yummy lunch at The Hard Rock Cafe. Now it's back to work tomorrow!

Caterpillars and Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

Most nights as I cook dinner I let Landon watch cartoons on Sprout, and most nights I feel like a bad mom for letting him watch cartoons every night. I know I shouldn't worry about it too much as good things can be enjoyed in moderation, right?!?! Anyway, tonight the teacher in me came out...I brought home a couple of caterpillars from school several days ago so Landon could watch them turn into chrysalis' and while I was cooking dinner tonight I had him draw pictures of them.

He loved it! I thought it was so cute how he had his chin propped on the table observing them! This one turned into a chrysalis over the weekend. My sweet boy hard at work!
Yes, I even labeled his drawings. This note pad has many of his "masterpieces" in it, and I like to date them and label them so I can see how it changes over the course of time. A little progress monitoring if you will! Ha!

On a final note, I have seen several bloggers 'talking' about Chocolate Chip Pound Cake, so I thought I would try it out as they have all mentioned how good it is.
Landon and I made it on Sunday afternoon and it is SO yummy!! It is super easy to make too! For the recipe you can click HERE. You won't be disappointed! :)

Saturday Mornings...

they're the best!! Almost every Saturday, Landon walks into our room with every stuffed animal he can fit into his arms and crawls into bed with us. He always wants to watch Mickey Mouse, so we do. What a great way to start the day!

Happy Weekend!

Visit with the Grands

Landon and I had a pretty good weekend. David was in Lubbock for some school related business, so Landon and I headed to NB on Saturday morning to visit my parents.

Landon was just so silly all weekend. He always makes me laugh with the things that he says and does, but his level of silliness was amplified this weekend. I guess the grandparents bring out all the silliness. He was just so much fun and I think we laughed pretty much the whole time!! Grandma and Grandpa recently returned from a cruise and brought back a guitar and a maraca for Landon. Landon and Grandpa played a little song for us throughout the weekend. On Sunday, we went to church and out to lunch, then Landon and I headed home to see David.

Sweet Memories

We are staying home today as Landon has a stomach virus...poor guy. This is the second stomach virus that he has ever had and they both have been within the last 6 months. Hopefully he will be able to keep some food down today.

Every few months I like to do a post on some sweet things that he says because I know my memory will fail me otherwise. I wish I could bottle up all of his sweetness and carry it with everywhere I go because he sure knows how to turn a not so great day into a fabulous one.

  • He was sick in the middle of the night last night so I was changing his sheets and tucking him back in bed and before I left his room he said, "Mommy, just put some apple juice on the counter for me and I will drink it when my tummy feels better." Sweet boy.

  • One night this week we were a bit off our regular schedule and his bedtime routine didn't happen as it was late. So I quickly tucked him in bed with a quick hug and kiss and we missed our bedtime stories, talk, and prayers. As I was closing his door he said, "Mommy, you "tergot" (aka-forgot) to tell me Jesus loves me." Such a sweet moment for Landon to remind me that no matter how rushed our lives get we can't forget HIM.

  • Landon is my little 'right hand man', he lets me know when I forget to do something or if I'm doing something the wrong way. One night I forgot to bring his jammies into the bathroom after his bath and he said, "Mommy, we are so silly! So so silly!" I just love the way he says that! His little voice is so precise and sweet.

  • Sometimes when I pick Landon up from Ms. LaShawn's house he gives me a big hug and says, "I missed you so much!" This makes my heart melt because a few times recently when I have picked him up he tells me to go back to work so that he can stay at Ms. LaShawn's house.

  • Landon has shown an interest in the show Dancing With The Stars and when it comes on he wants me to dance with him, so we dance!! We have no rhythm & no moves--mostly just random jumps, turns, and shakes, but we always laugh and have so much when we do it. When the dance is over he raises his arms and says, "We are SUPER STARS!"
