The Fork

Tonight at dinner I gave Landon a fork in hopes that one day he will not have the manners of a primate!! I fed him a few bites out of his kid-friendly fork, then I helped him do it, and finally I completely gave the fork to him to use independently.Above, he is trying to stab the food, just as he was shown.
Stabbing the food was too much of a challenge, so he thought that he would pick the food up with his fingers and place the food on his fork. Look at that face full of concentration.
Trying again.
It finally looks as if he is going to be successful at placing a piece of food on his fork...

but as soon as the food was on the fork, it slipped off. :(
This is how the saga ended....

1 year check-up

Landon had his 1 year check-up this morning, and he is a healthy little boy (not that we didn't already know that)!! Not too much more to ask for, we are truly blessed. We are a little behind on appointments, as he is almost 14 months and just now having his 12 month appointment. Schedules got busy on our end and on the doctors end, but they said that we should get caught up with his next visit.
Landon was in the 50th percentile for weight, which is where he usually is, however, this time for height he was in the 50th-75th percentile. His vertical growth has slowed a bit, in the past he was almost always in the 90th percentile for height. Dr. F chuckled at the fact that Landon only has one tooth. He said he has only seen one other child get his teeth so late. He said that it is a very good thing...most kiddos who get their teeth late usually have healthier and straighter teeth...cheers for that!!
Landon also had to have 3 injections this morning, but he is doing great!! Here are some pictures of him after we got home from the doctors office....

Sidewalk Chalk

Landon received some sidewalk chalk in his Easter basket from grandma and grandpa, so we put it to use today. The sidewalk chalk went much better than coloring typically does! Landon watched me draw on the sidewalk, then he would draw (scratch) on the sidewalk. After a few scratches he would run to the end of the driveway and come back to create a few more scratches.

This is what happens when you fall on your hiny onto sidewalk chalk!

Scratch, scratch!!

This is one long post...

This is Landon before heading south to NB. I love this outfit on him, he looks like such a little man.

We got to NB late Wednesday afternoon. Landon got to show off his new walking skills to grandma and grandpa. Aunt Char came over later in the evening to visit too. I think we were all excited for Thursday to come since we were going to Sea World. I couldn't wait to see how Landon reacted to all of the excitement at Sea World.

We woke up Thursday morning and enjoyed grandpa's waffles for breakfast. When I say waffles, I mean totally loaded waffles--strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream are all toppings to load your waffles with. After breakfast we were on our way to Sea World, luckily Landon got a nap in on the drive there.
A trip to SW is not complete without getting a family picture with Shamu, right?
Here is dad taking Landon down to the water to see the whales before the show started. Landon was fascinated by the huge pool that the whales swim in. He was staring at the water when the show began and four whales jolted out of the water at the same time. Landon must have been startled by the abrupt start of the show because he started crying when the whales came out of the water. He calmed down moments later and totally enjoyed watching the show!!

Our next stop was to see Big Birds Beach Adventure featuring ELMO!! Landon loves ELMO, so I was totally excited to see how he would react to the show. He was completely mesmerized, he absolutely loved it!!

Landon and dad looking at the sea lions, they were some pretty stinky animals, but we enjoyed them despite their poor grooming habits.

Dad was such a good sport and let us feed the sea lions.

We had a day filled with fun, and it was super special since we got to spend it with the grandparents and aunts. Landon was a good little boy the entire day! We went to Chili's after SW and little man was so tired he rested his head on the table during dinner. He totally ate up all the attention he was getting for being so sweet. We got home around 10:30 and called it a night. It was a good day!!

Friday morning we slept in....awww we were all so tired. After a lazy morning we went to the park to walk around and enjoy the nice weather. Landon was in heaven, he loves it outside. The park was filled with excitement...we saw a man trying to capture a snake, we rode a train, and the stroller rolled into the river ruining my cell phone!!

Landon would have loved to get a hold of one of the ducks!!

Friday night we went to the Spurs/Celtics game while Char and Brit babysat Landon. The grandparents are complete Spurs fans and David is a die-hard Celtics fan, so I knew it would be an interesting night full of not so friendly remarks about the opposite team. The game was a close one and the Celtics won!! David was so pumped, grandma was not so pumped!!

Saturday, after letting Aunt Britt take Landon's pics at JCP we headed home. The trip was a ton of fun!! Thanks grandma and grandpa for having us!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

"Hey everyone, Landon here. I have hijacked the blog and wanted to tell everyone Happy Saint Patrick's Day. Mom has been super nice today, she let me play outside while our car had its oil changed and then she took me to Sonic for some ice cream...yum yum!! Well, I think I hear mom coming, so I better jet, bye bye...."

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous for spring break, and we have been taking full advantage. Yesterday we headed to TC to walk around and enjoy the outdoors. Landon even met a friend his own size, they were the same age and moved around at about the same pace. They were too cute together, they would stare at each other then follow each other around. It was a good day.

Yep, this is our t.v. remote in the toilet! Landon and I were playing in the living room together and he walked out of the room with the remote. Literally, 10 seconds later I went to get him and he was standing over the toilet pointing at the remote. I tried so hard not to laugh, he would look up at me and then look back in the toilet. Oh, the joys of being a little boy and learning about this world we live in!!
